European Business Nature Summit 2022 

The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) participated actively in various sessions at the European Business Nature Summit  2022, which took place on October 18 & 19 in Brussels. 

In 2022, the international community will reach important milestones expected to shift how businesses report on and respond to risks relating to nature and biodiversity loss, by creating robust frameworks to steer the global financial system in a nature positive direction. The European Business Nature Summit (EBNS) aimed to strengthen the European "Business for Biodiversity movement" and help the business community shape and prepare for these imminent changes.

The EBNS is an initiative of the EU Business @ Biodiversity Platform of the European Commission in collaboration with the Business for Biodiversity Platform Ireland, and supported by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, Business for Nature and other European and national business organisations and institutional business networks.

WCS participated and spoke in several EBNS sessions, including:

• Tackling the twin crises of biodiversity loss and climate change together, with Joe Walston, Executive Vice President, Global Conservation Program, WCS
• ​Exploring new data technologies to manage nature risks and opportunities across supply chains, with Dr. Hugo Rainey, Senior Advisor, Business & Conservation, WCS
• Measuring what counts: targeting business steps for nature positive, with Dr. Kendall Jones, Conservation Planning Lead, WCS
